The
Inauguration of the New Building of the Ethiopian National Archives and Library
Agency was colorfully celebrated on 5 July 2008 in the premises of the Agency.On
the occasion were present, His Excellency Ambassador Teshome Toga. Speaker of
the House of People’s Representatives, Ambassadors, Ministries, Commissioners,
Scholars, and other invited guests. His Excellency Ambassador Teshome Toga,
guest of honor, Ambassador Mohammed Drir, Minister of Culture and Tourism, Ato
Atkilt Assefa, Director General of the Agency, Ato Seyoum Bereded, Director
of the Millennium Secretariat, Professor Bahru Zewde and Professor Baye Yimam
of Addis Ababa university have delivered speeches expressing their wishes that
the Agency is coming to a new era with improved capacity and working atmosphere
created by the new building.

Exhibition
displayed on the occasion, and different parts of the building were visited.The
four storey building comprises of reading and depository rooms for both library
and archive sections, Laboratory for microfilming, training rooms, a hall, and
offices.The new building can accommodate 1000 users daily which is much better
compared to the old building. It was built by finance borne by the Ethiopian
government which amount 32 million out which 27 million goes to the construction
and the remaining 5 million for fulfillment of equipments. You may see photographs taken during the occasion
