· Ethiopian Studies & Manuscript Division

Ethiopian incunabula (book printed in Ethiopia before 1935) ancient maps, & off-prints of journals related to Ethiopia published domestically and abroad by any author, any language, in any country are the main collections of this section. The manuscript section of this division consists of rare books, fine arts and special collections in different languages of Ethiopia mainly in Geez (an ancient Ethiopian language). This section keep open & offers service for scholars, researchers, and those who have recommendation letter.

Service: Photocopy and Reading.

Working Hours: Monday to Friday 8:30a.m. 6:00p.m.

Saturday to Sunday 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

· Reference & Documentation

This section of library consists of textbooks, Reference books, periodicals, conference proceedings, patents, fictions and Amharic literature. It provides s for college students & government employees.

Service: Photocopy, Reference, Consultancy, Training, loan, Regestration, Reading and Internet.

Users: College student and above.

working Hours : Monday to Saturday 8:45 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Saturday to Sunday 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

· periodicals

This section collectscurrent periodicals and Newspapers published locally and in any other coutries.

working Hours : Monday to Saturday 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Saturday to Sunday 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m

· Legal Deposit

This section collects three copies of all books, periodicals & non-book materials published and recorded locally in any language by any author. It compiles the Ethiopian National Bibliography and keeps open only in working hours. It provides services for researchers only, if documents are not found in the reference & documentation, & Ethiopian studies & manuscript division. This section keeps those materials mainly for historical and future generation cosumption.

Service: Photocopy, ISBN Registration and Reading.

Users: Researchers and other users

ISBN Registrationprovides ISBN (International System Book Number) for publishers.

Working Hours: Monday 8:30a.m. to Friday 5:30p.m.

· Archives Repository and Research

Collection: Archives, photographs, charts, plans and other documents on general national matters are available. This division is open for service from Monday to Friday at office hours.

Service: Reading & Photocopy.

Users: Researchers and other scholars

Working Hours: Monday 8:30a.m. to Friday 5:30 p.m.

Saturday from 2:30a.m. to 10:30 p.m.

· Microfilm and Microfiche Library
Microfilm and microfiche taken on ancient historical manuscripts and important prints are available. It is open for service from Monday to Friday at office hours.

Service: Reading Users: Researchers and other scholars.

Working Hours: Monday 8:30 a.m. to Friday 5:30 p.m.

· Internet and E-mail services
National Archives and Library of Ethiopia with partnership of World Bank established Development Information Services Center. This section provide Internet and E-mail services for different users. Specially for researchers, students, employee of government and non-government institutions, senior citizen, and disabled person, on average 500 users per months.

Working Hours: Monday 8:45a.m. to Friday 7:30p.m.

· HIV/AIDS Desk Users: researchers in the area of HIV/AIDS, University and college students, Government and non-government institutions. working Hours: Monday 8:45am to Friday 7:30pm

· Database

The computer center together with the appropriate teams, is building the following database In Micro-CDS/ISIS in its effort to improve access to documents.1. National Bibliographic databases.

5. Acquisition & Union Catalogue Database
6. Library catalogue database.
